Tunisian Vase with Mosaic Effect

What we have done here is combine a coil pot vase with a mosaic treatment as a brief lesson on Tunisian ceramics. As the Greeks, the Romans, the Egyptians and the Byzantine Empire all developed pottery in the Mediterranean region, at various times the influence from each of these areas was felt in Tunisia. The suggested terra cotta colour for the vase is based on a common theme and the simple mosaic treatment allows for students to experiment with the popular colours used historically on pottery and mosaic tiles from the region.This project is suitable for grades three and up as a curriculum supplement..
